Turkey — Cappadocia and Istanbul
Seven nights across Cappadocia, Ankara and Istanbul: balloons at sunrise, an underground city, Hagia Sophia and the Bosphorus.
Contract this tripWhy this trip
At dawn in Cappadocia, several hundred hot-air balloons lift off at once over a valley of rock spires and cave dwellings, and for about an hour it is the most extraordinary thing most people will ever see. That is one morning of eight days. The rest takes you underground into a city carved from rock, across the landscape by jeep, and then to Istanbul — a city on two continents, with the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and a boat ride up the Bosphorus between Europe and Asia.

Who it suits
Companies wanting maximum length and cultural substance for a mid-tier budget.
It suits curious groups who want to see something genuinely famous, and it is an easy internal sell — the balloon photograph does the recruiting for you. Good for mixed fitness levels, since the itinerary is sightseeing rather than adrenaline. Brief attendees on mosque dress codes before departure.
Mike's take on Turkey — Cappadocia and Istanbul
Eight days for a mid-range price makes Turkey the best days-per-dollar itinerary in the catalogue, and the balloon morning alone justifies the trip. One thing to set expectations on: balloon flights are weather-dependent and do get cancelled, sometimes at short notice. We build flexibility in where we can, and we tell groups in advance so that a cancelled morning is a disappointment rather than a disaster.
